Wet Jacket Crew

Greg Hay - Captain / Vigneron

Greg first came to Central Otago in 1987 and was responsible for starting one of the first wineries in the region - Chard Farm, with his brother Rob Hay.

After spending nearly a decade in the family business, Greg sought a new challenge, and in 1998 was instrumental in the development of the Peregrine brand and growth up until 2015.
Greg's passion for Central Otago and the desire to create a more boutique, personalised style wine business, coupled with his love of Fiordland, have inspired him to now venture into his own realm and start Wet Jacket wines.

With decades of experience his vision for Wet Jacket and the Woolshed is to step out from the norm and make the Woolshed the home of Wet Jacket Wines. Greg wants people to travel to the Woolshed for a unique multi-layered experience that starts with history and culminates in new world wines.
This philosophy of keeping the brand small and personal leads to Wet Jacket wines being available predominantly through the Woolshed Cellar Door and only a few restaurants throughout New Zealand.

Alison Vidoni - First Mate / General Manager

Alison moved to New Zealand in 2012 and immediately fell in love with Central Otago, the place, the people and of course the wine!
After 4 years of successfully developing new, and growing exisiting wine markets across Australia and New Zealand for local producer Peregrine Wines, she was drawn to the Wet Jacket venture.
The ability to bring to life Greg Hay's incredible vision for a new winery in the Central Otago region, and the opportunity to build unique concept reverencing the history of farming in Central Otago while celebrating the modern wine industry of today, was a perfect match.

When Alison isn't passionately introducing Wet Jacket to the world you can find her enjoying a wine with friends, hosting dinner parties and brewery days with her husband at home in Arrowtown, or simply being out enjoying all the incredible places and activities that Central Otago and New Zealand have to offer.

Kristina Delgado - Provisions Merchant / Manager

As an Arrowtown local Kristina has long been exposed to the incredible wine and produce that Central Otago and New Zealand has to offer. So when the opportunity to bring these to the local market presented itself, the synergy was far too obvious.

Kristina has had major roles in different retail and hospitality environments around the Wakitipu Basin over the last 15 years, before taking a break to have a family. She is excited to be a part of the Wet Jacket team and having the chance to utilise all her skills to tell the Whitestone Cheese story within the Wet Jacket Woolshed.

When Kristina is not brilliantly pairing Wet Jacket wines with Whitestone Cheese she loves hosting dinner parties for her friends, exploring new ideas in the floristry and interior design industry, and spending time with her incredible family.

James Turpie - The Crew / Cellar Door Host

James is excited to be joining the Wet Jacket team. He has a passion for wine and learning about Central Otago, as well as the history of some of the origins of New Zealand - all of which he loves to share while taking you through the Wet Jacket range.

When James isn't at Wet Jacket you can find him snowboarding, exploring the region and sampling many Central Otago's culinary delights.

Josh Kelly - The Crew / Cellar Door Host

Recently graduating from Queenstown Resort Collage, Josh is excited to be joining the Wet Jacket team.
Originally from the City of Sails he relocated South four years ago and has never looked back. Having studied hospitality the wine industry called to him with a focus on the business and management aspects of a Cellar Door.

When Josh isn't busy making sure every customer loves Wet Jacket as much as he does you can find him on the rugby field, enjoying a wine with friends or attempting to convince Greg to let him mow a cricket pitch at the Cellar Door.

Matt White - The Crew / Cellar Door Host

Having fallen in love with New Zealand while on a holiday from the UK four years ago, Matt felt the need to return for another year to escape the British Winter. His aim was to find work in an industry that challenged and excited him, and after meeting Greg Hay though friends the rest was history.

As Matt is here for a good time not a long time, he likes to make sure he gets to see the best part of New Zealand. So when he is not in Cellar Door he is travelling around with his girlfriend Heather and taking in all that Central Otago and New Zealand has to offer, sights, food and wine of course.

Nelson - Mascot / Winery Dog

Nelson is never happier than when he is greeting all our guests as they come aboard the Wet Jacket wine experience. With 10 years around wineries Nelson knows what's required and how to keep everyone involved.
His wonderful manner means he can keep your children entertained whilst you relax and enjoy a Wet Jacket wine tasting.
