2021 Wet Jacket ‘Aurora Legacy’ Syrah – Mohua

“About 25 years ago, I was asked to help establish the Aurora Vineyard in the Bendigo subregion of Central Otago. Even though this was one of the very first vineyards in the area, I had an inkling that the terroir in Bendigo could produce something spectacular with the Syrah grape variety, akin to the great wines of the Rhône Valley. My initial instinct was proven to be correct and this year we are releasing this very special limited-edition Legacy Syrah. Dark purple with ruby plum hues. Aromatic with violets, dark plum, white pepper, blackberries, blueberries, dark chocolate and a hint of cardamom. A bright rich red fruit entry with blackberry, fruitcake, spiced plum and delicate florals. Concentrated and dense with silky tannins and a long velvety finish of berries and dark chocolate.
